Why The Increased Interest In Natural Or Organic Remedies Such As CBD Oil?

You don’t have to watch television long before an ad for a prescription drug comes on the screen.

It’s typically a brief testimonial of the benefits of a drug on a specific condition, most often a relatable “patient” walking around doing enjoyable everyday things such as going to a farmer’s market or walking through the park. Meanwhile, a narrator lists off the drug’s side effects, which may include death.

Adverse reactions to legally-prescribed pharmaceuticals is the fourth leading cause of death in the United States. According to the American Medical Association, legally prescribed pharmaceuticals kill approximately 106,000 hospitalized patients annually, are responsible for an estimated 198,000 related annual deaths and necessitate 23% of all hospitalizations. According to the FDA, there have been one million deaths due to prescription drug ‘adverse effects’ in the period between 2011 to the middle of 2017.https://ethics.harvard.edu/blog/new-prescription-drugs-major-health-risk-few-offsetting-advantages

The discipline of Science-Based Medicine, imported to the United States from Europe during the mid 1800s, lent credence to the notion of a “specific cure for a specific ailment”. Known as the biomedical model, it became the basis for the production of synthetic drugs (what the drug industry calls “pharmaceuticals”). The biomedical model focuses on purely biological factors and excludes psychological, environmental, and social influences. It is considered to be the leading modern way for health care professionals to diagnose and treat a condition in most Western countries.

The pharmaceutical industry of today evolved largely from the chemical industry and are synthesized chemically in the laboratory. Pharmaceutical drugs were then given a boost by the Durham-Humphrey Act of 1954, legally designating drugs as ‘prescribed’ by a physician, or ‘over-the-counter’ for self-selection.

With the establishment of the American Medical Association (AMA), FDA-approved pharmaceutical drugs and medical devices have replaced many of nature’s most useful and powerful “Natural or Organic Remedies” that previously lined the shelves of drugstores throughout the U.S.

The AMA has long denied homeopathic practitioners membership and has also prohibited the use of most forms of “Natural or Organic Remedies” in the practices of conventional doctors. In other countries like Germany, India and Canada, “Natural or Organic Remedies” have been utilized for centuries (and over two millennia, in India’s case) are more integrated into conventional health care systems.

A law was passed in 1994 designed to cut costs for the corporate dietary supplement industry, and was not established with the interest of public health in mind. Dietary supplements are considered safe until proven unsafe. In 1994, the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) defined dietary supplements as a category of food, which put them under different regulations than drugs. … This is the reverse of the way prescription and non-prescription drugs are handled. In exchange for minimal FDA oversight a disclaimer that reads: “This statement has not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.” must be attached to dietary supplements. (CFR – Code of Federal Regulations Title 21) “Natural or Organic Remedies” (also called phytomedicinals) also fell under this law and must be labeled with the same disclaimer.

There’s been a growing interest in “Natural or Organic Remedies” because of the rising cost, numerous side effects, and suspicion of the long term impact (i.e. addiction) of prescription medication. “Natural or Organic Remedies” have been stressing overall health, wellness and prevention rather than treating a disease or ailment once it arises.

“Natural or Organic Remedies” such as Cannabidiol (CBD) Oil have made a comeback because they give hope to many, they work wonders and many times nobody is quite sure why. It’s not surprising that many of us want to know what makes CBD oil so special. CBD is a phytocannabinoid and has a long and rich history with mankind. Now, almost 6000 years since the cannabis cultivation, it is legal in all 50 states of the US. CBD Oil’s are still classified as dietary supplements, so they can be produced, sold and marketed without going through the FDA but they still require the FDA disclaimer label.

It’s our job as consumers to choose among the CBD Oil competitors. Make sure to read the ingredients and labels carefully before using any CBD products. Purchase from a reputable and trustworthy CBD Oil Supplier that test and verifies their products.
